Rimmel & Kate Moss // 15th Anniversary Lipsticks

Rimmel is once again killing it with their releases - the one drugstore brand I can always count on to come out with awesome new products! Their latest release is a particularly special one. They are celebrating their 15th anniversary of having Kate Moss as the face of their brand! It's quite impressive that she has been with the brand for that long, and during her tenure she's collaborated on some of their most popular products! I particularly love her lipstick ranges, so its fitting that the 15th anniversary collection is a selection of Kate's favourite nude and red shades in the Lasting Finish by Kate formula*!

L-R: Rock 'n' Roll Nude, My Nude, Boho Nude, Retro Red, Muse Red, Idol Red

If you couldn't tell - the packaging is especially snazzy on this collection! They've jazzed up the regular packaging of the Lasting Finish lipsticks by making it rose gold. While they look really awesome and glitzy, it feels kinda tacky? It might just be me, but the whole plastic-painted-metallic isn't often something I absolutely love. I'm really not fussed by it though because these are affordable products and the look of them is quite impressive! I should also mention that I am not at all a fan of the scent! I have a couple of lipsticks from the regular Lasting Finish by Kate ranges which smell like grape hubba bubba which I don't hate, but these have an entirely different scent! It's like an extremely artificial, plastic sweet scent. Bllgggh. It reminds me a lot of classic lip smackers and I get a very kiddy vibe from it. I do find it lingers slightly as well, but it's not terrible. I wish they would've just kept the scent the same or skipped it altogether!

As far as I can tell, the formula is the same as the regular range (black tube, not the matte ones). The lipsticks are smooth, creamy and very pigmented. That being said, they are not overly creamy (which is an issue I had with the Only One Lipsticks), just creamy enough to apply easily to the lips. They have a very slight sheen that makes them comfortable and non-drying, but they aren't at all glossy or smear-y. You can give them a matte finish with a quick blot! They last really well for a more satin finish, the reds longer than the nudes. They fade quite evenly so I don't even have to reapply the nudes if I can't be bothered, but the reds do need a bit of touching up after eating. There's honestly little I can fault about these, they are absolutely excellent lipsticks!

Rock 'n' Roll Nude is the palest and most pink of the nude shades. For that reason, it's my least favourite just because it's a bit too pale and pink for my skintone. There is still a hint of warmth to it so I imagine it would be absolutely amazing on someone with a paler or more cool-toned skin than me!

My Nude is...my nude! This shade is a medium depth nude with a peachy-brown tone. Totally up my alley and it pairs amazingly with both a more intense makeup look, or no-makeup makeup.

Boho Nude is another very flattering shade. It's slightly darker than My Nude and is distinctly more brown-y, beige toned.

Retro Red is my favourite red of the collection. It's a deep maroon, raspberry red that I find to be effortless and very flattering.

Muse Red is your typical RED red. It sits very much in the middle and is neither cool nor warm in tone. A classic.

Idol Red is your typical orange-toned red, perfect for spring and summer. It seems to be showing up very similar to Muse Red in my swatches, but in reality it is significantly more warm-toned - apologies for that!

I absolutely love the curation of shades. There is a shade here to suit most people and given they are Kate's favourite shades, it makes sense that the nudes especially would be more suited towards people with light-medium skintones. I have read criticisms that the nude shades don't cater toward deeper skintones which I understand, but I can also direct you to Rimmel and Kate's other lipstick collection (which I believe is permanent) full of nude shades for all skintones! I honestly can't fault these lipsticks and if you see a shade you like, I highly recommend it!
