In the Spotlight // Napoleon Perdis

A type of post that I love reading, but have never done myself, is a "brand spotlight" post, where I showcase all of the products I have from one particular brand. Looking at my collection, I actually don't have a lot of products from many brands, brand loyal I am not! I do, however, have a few products from Australian brand, Napoleon Perdis, many of which I haven't properly reviewed on the blog. Now is their time to shine!

Auto Pilot Pre-Foundation Skin Primer
I just mentioned this one in my last monthly favourites, but it's also been featured in a disappointing products post. If you couldn't tell, I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with this one, haha! This primer is mostly hydrating, it provides a smooth layer between skin and foundation that helps the foundation settle and look better over top. However, I don't find it to prolong wear very much, illuminate or "fill in" pores. While I do really like it, and have gotten into the groove of using it pretty often, I don't LOVE it, or really think it's worth the money.

Remember this sucker? It came as an Instyle magazine freebie a couple of years ago, with the lipgloss I'll mention in a sec. It also came with a mascara but I never opened it and ended up giving it away. This cream blush is still going strong, though I don't use it too often. The colour is really lovely though, a super wearable pinky-mauve with a nice, dewy formula on the sheer side.

Talk about a throwback! This was one of the first products I reviewed on my blog, so let's not judge the shoddy photos. This palette has been a serious standby in my collection though, I mention it pretty frequently! It's basically a palette full of very "nude" shades, all with a matte finish. The formula is lovely and soft, not too pigmented, but pigmented enough. None of them look chalky on me, even the light shades. While I wish there was a bit more variation in shades (could do with a black!), the selection is good. Lots of highlights, cool and warm tones and even some brow colours. The middle pans are blushes/bronzers/highlighters but more recently I've been loving using them on my eyes for a warmer eye look.

China Doll Eyeliner in Dynasty*
This eyeliner just completely reminds me of my friend Amy who wears navy eyeliner pretty often (and rocks it!). I don't have many gel liners, and I keep meaning to get more. This one has quite a nice formula. While it's creamy, it still has a bit of a drier texture so I find myself dipping back to get more product. It's not as richly or intensely pigmented as I'd like, the shade is a gorgeous deep, shimmery navy which makes up for that. It applies fine, and lasting power is good!

Devine Goddess Lipstick in Aphrodite
If you know me, you know I'm not really one for a red lip. I'd much rather wear a bright orange, or deep burgundy! Aphrodite is probably the truest red in my collection though. It's bold and fiery, and has the slightest blue undertones so it's complementary on the teeth. When I want a classic red, I go for this. The pigmentation is amazing, and it feels creamy but has a satin finish. The lasting power is pretty great, but it's not completely matte, so you do need to keep an eye on it.

Mattetastic Lipstick in Grace*
This shade reminds me very much of the current "Kylie Jenner" lip trend; a mid-toned mauvey-pink with the slightest brown-berry undertones. I find this shade so flattering, and it's one that I've been reaching for quite a lot! The formula is pretty unique actually. It's matte, but not completely flat. When it goes onto the lips, it almost feels weightless because it has such a thin consistency, but it is still pretty pigmented. Not as pigmented as the Devine Goddess Lipstick, but pigmented nonetheless. It doesn't accentuate dryness too badly, but for optimal results, it's best to have them pre-exfoliated and moisturised. It's pretty gentle on the lips and doesn't dry them out too badly, if at all!

I don't reach for this lipgloss a whole lot, but it is lovely. The shade is a pretty pale, nudey-peach with pink undertones. It's quite flattering for a nude actually! The texture is on the thicker side, with a slight bit of stickiness, but nothing unbearable! If anything, it helps make the gloss longer lasting. I find this fairly complementary over any nudey lipstick, or just in general for a slight blush of colour and gloss.

So there we have all the products I own from Napoleon Perdis! While I think at times they're products can be pretty overpriced, there's no denying that they are of high quality! I hope you guys enjoyed this post. I will probably turn this "one brand" sitch into a bit of a series, so let me know if there are any brands you'd like to see - provided I have a few products from them haha!

Do you have any favourite Napoleon products?
